Malte Krohn studied Material and Product Development (B. Eng.) at Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences and Global Innovation Management (Joint M.Sc.) at the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, UK and Hamburg University of Technology. He is the User Experience Manager for the Institute's M.Sc. program Global Technology and Innovation Management & Entrepreneurship (https://www.g-time.org/) and TUHH primary faculty champion for the University Innovation Fellows program of Stanford's d.school. Recently, he started his own venture On Minds & Motion to advocate Entrepreneurial Mindfulness in research, practice and education (https://www.onmindsandmotion.com/).
His research focuses on the role of mindsets and intentions in the innovation context.
Malte Krohn's dissertation project focuses on the barriers to frugal innovations, which are influenced by individuals’ cognitive orientations, especially in Western companies. Building on a conceptualisation of the “Frugal Mindset” phenomenon for Western MNCs, further steps will include a validation of this framework and exploration of specific opinions, attitudes or behaviours that characterize the existence or lack of such a mindset. These insights will provide a better understanding of individuals’ perception of frugal innovation as well as its challenges in organizations and ultimately help to promote more successful implementation of frugal innovation approaches.
